The Barns Art Market is back for a third summer! This fine art and craft show takes place one Saturday a month from May to October at the Artscape Wychwood Barns. Find jewellery, paintings, prints, ceramics, clothing and more from 25+ exhibitors each month. The first market is Saturday, May 25th. Admission is free. Artscape is glad to participate once again in Doors Open, which is scheduled this year on May 25 and 26. This large-scale civic event gives Torontonians access to significant buildings across the city, including the Artscape Wychwood Barns. Dare To Be Square! – Community Barn Dance

Burn off that Mother’s Day brunch with a good old-fashioned square dance!

Join us on Sunday May 12th, 4pm to 7pm for a square dance in barn 2.

The first dance will kick off at 4:30pm with live music, led by caller extraordinaire Hannah Naiman.

Advance tickets are available at the WBCA table at the Saturday Farmer’s Market or at EcoExistence – 766 St Clair Ave W

$10 per person

You’re invited to the Annual Community Meeting of the Wychwood Barns Community Association

You are cordially invited to come to the annual community meeting of the Wychwood Barns Community Association.

The WBCA will be presenting information about its upcoming programming and volunteer opportunities, including the St. Clair Centennial, a Family Dance Party on Mother’s Day, and our Blues and Brews event on June 15. Community members attending will select two community members to sit on the Nominating Committee of the WBCA, which recommends new Board appointments to the WBCA as seats become vacant.

The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and should conclude no later than 8:30 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to meet people from the community and get involved!

Huge news! LEED Gold Achieved at Artscape Wychwood Barns

“From the beginning, Artscape Wychwood Barns was designed and built to LEED Gold Standards, but it wasn’t until this past month that the Canadian Green Building Council certified the project with a LEED Gold rating. We’re thrilled that our certification is now official—and just in time for the 100-year anniversary of these structures.”

For the next 18 months we’ll be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the St. Clair Streetcar and the Wychwood carhouse with a series of events focused on our heritage, arts and the community.

September 14-15, 2013 - History Alive on St. Clair

Ride historic streetcars, participate in historic tours, join a scavenger hunt and more. In partnership with the TTC and local Business Improvement Areas.

September 10-15, 2013 - Historic Exhibit (Barn 2)

A visual depiction of the impact of the St. Clair streetcar on our community over the past 100 years.

September 10-15, 2013 - Centennial inspired Programming throughout the Barns, in partnership with Barns tenants.

September 10-22, 2013 - Historic Advertising Exhibit (Community Gallery) in partnership with the TTC.

September 2013 - Community History Website and Mobile App launch.

September 2013 - Call for Artists

An invitation to local secondary and post-secondary students to participate in a juried art exhibit about “The Evolving St. Clair West Community”.

April 4, 2014 - Birthday Gala

A celebratory fundraiser benefitting the WBCA on the 100th anniversary of the public opening of the Wychwood carhouse.

April 4-13, 2014 - Art Exhibit

A juried show of secondary and post secondary students on the theme: “The Evolving St. Clair West Community”.

Spring 2014 - Community Birthday Celebration

A fun free community event that will incorporate art by local elementary school children.

As we move into a new year, we’d like to take a moment to thank the volunteers, supporters and sponsors who helped breathe life into so many of our events and activities throughout 2012. We appreciate your time, enthusiasm and dedication – thank you!b Over the past year, we’ve been delighted to work with new community partners to present special events like the 100 Mile Mother’s Day Buffet, the Blues & Brews Bash, Cain’s Arcade, and the Gluten Free Garage to the Barns for the first time, along with perennial favourites like BOO! at the Barns, the Eco Fair and Trivia Night.

The 2013 Calendar of Latino Canadian Visual Arts

LACAP is currently selling a 2013 calendar featuring a selection of Latino Canadian Visual Artists. The calendars are $20.00 and make a great gift.

This calendar publication is the first compilation showcasing the work of Latino/a Canadian artists. It also includes birth dates of prominent Latin American artists and dates of cultural importance.

All proceeds from the sales of this unique calendar go towards the establishment of a future Latin American art centre in the city of Toronto. For only $20, you too can support the arts and the collective dream of a whole community.

Size: at 9.25″ wide by 9.75″ tall, this calendar fits perfectly in any working space.

Each month carries the artwork of a recognized Latino/a Canadian artist. The bottom page of each month also features poems and song lyrics by well-known Latin American poets and songwriters. It also includes the names of international artists, their birth dates and their place of birth.
